The Library System Centre as part of its activities for the improvement and development of electronic bibliographic collections, participates in the signing of national consortium contracts promoted by the Coordinamento per l'Accesso alle Risorse Elettroniche della Conferenza dei Rettori delle Università Italiane (CARE-CRUI).
Since 2020, Sapienza has concluded several read & publish contracts (also called transformative agreements) in which the costs paid by the institutions not only guarantee read access to the periodicals of the publishers involved, but also include the costs for open access publication (article processing charge, APC) by affiliated authors.
The "Read & Publish" contracts signed by the Library System Centre are:
- American Chemical Society (ACS) [reactivated as from 1 January 2025]
- American Institute of Physics (AIP)
- Association for Computing Machinery (ACM)
- BMJ Publishing Group
- Cambridge University Press (CUP)
- Elsevier ScienceDirect
- IEEE [suspended as of 1 January 2025, negotiations are underway for its renewal]
- IOP Publishing (IOPP)
- Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC)
- Springer (SpringerLink) [reactivated on 1 January 2025 and extended until 30 June 2025]
- Wiley
The cost of the contract is fully funded by the Library System Centre.
